BEE A READER
The best predictor of summer reading loss or summer reading gain is whether or not students read during the summer.
In order to prevent summer reading loss, the Birmingham Education Foundation and The Jeffares Group® are sponsoring a district –wide summer reading challenge, Bee A Reader!, for all BPS students entering grades K-5. Students who want to join in the fun need to commit to reading 800 minutes this summer. Students who meet this reading challenge goal will participate in a special celebration this fall at their school!

Projects like this are happening all throughout the district, made possible by donations from parents, staff, businesses and community members.

Welcome to the Birmingham Education Foundation
The Birmingham Education Foundation was founded to raise private funds that will benefit students in Birmingham Public Schools and continue the tradition of academic excellence in our district. Through donations to initiatives in Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Technology teachers and staff are empowered to teach in innovative ways, inspiring students in turn to explore new possibilities.
